WE ARE THE BEST! is Lukas Moodysson’s adaptation of his wife Coco’s graphic novel about three young misfits growing up in early ‘80s Stockholm. Mohawk-sporting Klara and her best friend Bobo are 13-year-old rebels who, despite having no musical ability, put all their energy into forming an all-girl punk band. With tender affection for his young characters, Moodysson paints an ebullient portrait of youth.

Su Friedrich, executive member of the Committee for Film Studies, has been teaching film production courses in the Visual Arts Program since 1999. She began making films in 1978 and has made 24 films and videos, most of which are distributed by Outcast Films.
