The Celine Archive is a documentary about a woman named Celine Navarro, an immigrant from the Philippines and the source of a ghost story. Navarro was buried alive in California in 1932. When news broke about this, it was said that the act was committed by her own community and her death quickly grew into legend. Shimizu’s film explores Navarro’s life, the mysterious circumstances of her death, and her descendants living with her legacy today.
