Contemporary Japanese Language and Culture I

This course emphasizes continued development of the four skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) used in academic or professional settings. The materials are selected from novels, essays, reports, films, and documentaries, and the class engages these materials with close reading, critical analysis, and contextualization akin to literary studies. The goal of this course is “superior” level according to the ACTFL/ETS guidelines.
