A special presentation and discussion of rare silent films. These films showcase the work of female slapstick comedians of early silent cinema, each with their own unique perspective and message. This selection of films is curated by Maggie Hennefeld, assistant professor of Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature at the University of Minnesota. Hennefeld, who recently released a book on this topic, “Specters of Slapstick and Silent Film Comediennes.”
